English Language Challenges

Hi, this is the last post! After 4 years in the university I finally go to end the 4 english levels. Even in the school I don’t have good marks in english, in the university the english class was not very difficult to me.

This is the third level of English that I do, because I didn’t have to do the first. Sincerely, was not bad to have courses of English, because in the future I will use this language a lot in my futures works.
Although I already completed the 4 levels of english, I dont feel very prepared in English. I think my weakest part is the time of writing. I think the I have to do to improve it is study more.  Also, for me is difficult talk in English, and I think to improve it I should speak more.

Usually I do not use much English. Sometimes when I hear a song in English attempt to understand it, but it's not very common to do so. In addition, the university sometimes I have to read some short texts in English. Besides sometimes I see there videos on English and try to understand them.

That was all in this blog. I hope someday I can visit this blog again and laugh for the many problems of writing in it.

Bye

2015 reflections

It remains only a week in November and we arrive at the last month of the year. That's why it's time to make reflections on the 2015.

I think if I had to decide if 2015 was a good or bad year, I would say that was a good year. In college I'm finishing the necessary classes for the degree. Plus, after four years, I'm finally ending English classes. Another important thing is I am finishing my thesis, which has been very difficult for me and my colleagues.

Another good thing about 2015 is that it was a very entertaining year. I met very nice people. Besides I could travel with my brother, that was something that had long been pending.

Of course, this year also had bad things. Perhaps the academic load was too big, but in the next year next year I will have very few classes. Even in the fifth year of the career we are going only 2 times a week to college.

I hope that next year is equal or better than this. What I would like to improve this year is to make time to be with my parents. I would also like to study more for tests and not leave everything to the last minute haha.

Summer Plans

Hello! There is only 2 months remaining of the semester and I will be free! Well, not really, because this summer I will have to make my professional practice.

Despite that, I’m not sad of not having “regular” vacations. I’m pretty excited of finally doing my practice in a TV channel or a newspaper. I don’t have decided where I want to do my practice, but I think it will be so much fun, also, doing it I will learn a lot about journalism in general.

Besides all of that, I hope to have one or two weeks for myself. I don’t really want to travel or something like that, I just want to sleep a lot and don’t make too much those days haha.

If I could choose to have my ideal vacations, I think I would choose to travel and get to know some cities: Inside Chile, maybe Concepción (National Capital of Rock) and outside our borders I would love to visit Mexico and Mexico City in particular.

Another thing that I want to do is to travel in a Volkswagen Transporter across Latin America. I have seen a lot of people doing it and “live” blogging their experiences online. One of those guys’s blog shows its travel on the “Kombi” called “Fotografiando el Mundo” (stands for “Photographing the World”). You can look it up on Facebook and check their trip, I recommend it.

How green are you?

I’m not what you would call a “green” kind of person. I don’t really care about separating litter from recycling stuff like paper, plastic or glass. I neither care about the use of water, which I know is bad, as it is a necessary resource to preserve life in our planet. It’s not like I’m contaminating and littering on purpose, and if I find water going I close the faucet. Also, I don’t throw paper on the street because I really hate to see people doing it.

Despite that I’m not that “green”, my family really worries about that as the community does: my municipalidad distributed containers along the comuna to separate recycle materials from litter.

I believe that is important to raise awareness among kids by educating them on how and which materials they can reuse or recycle, which I think was missing from my education and is why I don’t have the habit.

Furthermore, I think that is really important to teach people the benefits for them and the environment on using the public transportation system, because car usage is a huge part of the footprint, especially in cities like Santiago.

As a sidenote, my brother is developing a web platform to help people understand their own carbon footprint and how to reuse materials by teaching them a series of “how-to” of do-it-yourself projects based on common stuff.

My plans after graduating

I am in the fourth year of university, and I only have to study one more year to (finally) graduate. I don’t know very well what I’m going to do when that day arrives, but I do have some plans.

I’d really like to work in a mass media like El Mercurio or La Tercera or in a TV channel , but I am not sure if this is the best option, because the pay is not so good for journalist. Because of that, I think a good idea could be work in a big company in its communication department.

Another thing that I really want to do is to get a Master Degree in Digital Journalism. On top of that, I want to have my own startup media company, given that the environment allows to put websites online to deliver content to different audiences.

Also I would like to travel and get to know other countries and their cultures starting with Latin America, but for that you need a ton of money so it’s more a vacations plan than a living one.

Those are the things that I would love to do in the near future after getting my degree. What about you? Leave your plans in the comments section below.

The best holidays I’ve ever had

The last year I went to Tarija, a small city in the south of Bolivia. I travel alone by bus for most than 30 hours.

When I arrived to Tarija I see a beautiful, quite and (VERY) cheap city! Every corner in Tarija was special to me, because I saw things I never saw in my life, like papayas whit the size of a watermelon or the kollas chewing coca.

For me, the most amazing place in Tarija was the market. It’s a very big place in downtown and you can eat "pique a lo macho" or "picana", typical bolivian food. Another funny place was the “Hostal Jolie”, a motel outside the city whit the face of Angelina Jolie over the entrance.

In Tarija I stayed with my aunt Veronica and his family for 3 weeks, and after I had to travel to Santiago (in bus again). The only bad moment in the travel was when I was in Mendoza to cross the frontera to chile and the police closed the “Paso Los Libertadores”, so I had to stay one more day in Mendoza in the worst hotel of the world.

The country I would like to visit

I really want to know Mexico. Even they are not a very cool country like Usa or England, I think mexico is more funny. Also, the people speak in Spanish, so would be very easy talk to the people if you need help with the map or something like that.

One of the most amazing place is “El Zocalo”, the main square of Mexico City. The zocalo is very big square, and don’t have any construction over there. So, the people can make a lot of activities in there, like political demonstration or religious celebration.

Other amazing place in Mexico is the “Estadio Azteca” also in Mexico City . is the third stadium most big in the world, with a capacity of more than 100.000. Is the first stadium in the history in be the host of two World Cup Finals: in 1970 (when Pele won her last World Cup), and in 1986 (when Diego Armando Maradona won the Title). Actually, the stadium is used for the “Club America”, the most important football team in Mexico.

Even the people say that mexico is a very dangerous place for the drug trafficking and the corrupt police, I really want to go someday to Mexico!
